Information for your visit
The Gysenberg Recreational Park in Herne, known as “Revierpark Gysenberg”, covers an area of 31 hectares, which is the size of about 44 soccer fields.
To ensure a comfortable visit, here is some helpful information on accessibility for you:
Information on accessibility
You can get there by bus line 324. The bus stops “Gysenbergparkhalle” and “Gysenbergpark – Lago” are located about 50 metres from the entrance of the Revierpark. Several disabled parking spaces are available near the entrance area. Please find a tactile park overview map near the ice rink (bus stop “Gysenbergparkhalle”).
The parking area extends between “Lago - Die Therme” and the ice rink. A step-free park access is available at various points.
Between these buildings, there are several attractions for children and adults, as well as a large recreational lawn. Many accessible benches with backrests and armrests invite you to relax and linger.
From the road “Am Revierpark”, the site has a slight incline towards the forest above. The main pathways provide both, a tactile and an optical contrast to the edge of the vegetation. Most of the paths are paved.
To the right of the ice rink, you find the insect loop, dedicated to the theme of butterflies. The loop consists of 5 stations which showcase the development from the egg to the fully developed butterfly. The pathways of this nature trail are made of water-bound pavement.
The play and sports areas, as well as the fitness circuit, offer a variety of activities. Several devices can also be used by people with limited mobility, such as the parallel bars, the upper body ergometer, and a training device for back and shoulder muscles. The children's playground also provides a number of devices, such as the slide, the music ball, the carousel, the seesaw and the tandem swing.
There is a gastronomic offering available in the event centre as well as in the “Gysenberghalle”.
Assistance dogs are welcome in the park. Due to the complex pathways, we recommend blind guests to visit the park with a sighted companion.
Have fun and enjoy a relaxing time in “Revierpark Gysenberg”!
